The benefits of learning foreign languages have been widely discussed for many years. Languages not only help people succeed professionally but also allow them to understand cultures different from their own. In this essay, I will consider cultural understanding and improved job opportunities and explain which I find more significant.

Firstly, learning a foreign language helps people gain insight into other cultures. When individuals can communicate in another language, they are able to interact directly with native speakers and better understand their traditions and values. This experience often broadens people’s horizons and encourages tolerance, as language reflects the way people think and live.

However, cultural enrichment is not the only reason to study languages. From a practical point of view, language skills can significantly improve career prospects. Many international companies require employees to communicate with partners abroad, and English, in particular, has become an essential skill in numerous professions. Employees with strong language skills often find it easier to advance in their careers.

In conclusion, both advantages are important. Nevertheless, I believe that increased job opportunities are the most significant benefit, as they help people become more independent and improve their overall quality of life.

In recent years, many parents have relied heavily on digital entertainment, sometimes overlooking the value of traditional storytelling. However, stories have always played a vital role in children’s development. This essay will discuss the social and educational importance of stories for young children.

Firstly, stories help children learn essential social values. Through characters and plotlines, children are introduced to ideas such as honesty, kindness and responsibility. By observing the consequences of characters’ actions, children learn to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, which helps them adapt to social norms.

Secondly, storytelling contributes significantly to children’s education. CAE: Formal Letter — Request for Financial Support

You are planning an event to raise public awareness about a project that is important to you. Write a letter to the manager of a large organisation asking for financial support.

Dear Mr Johnson,

I am writing on behalf of Saransk Language School, where I work as a public representative. Our organisation provides English classes for children and teenagers, including summer courses and educational programmes.

We are currently planning a new project to be launched in June, aimed at developing students’ speaking, reading and listening skills. The programme will be based on authentic materials, and students will also watch English-language films and cartoons. In addition, older learners will be encouraged to communicate with foreign peers through online exchanges.

Unfortunately, as a non-profit organisation, we are experiencing financial difficulties. At present, we do not have sufficient funds to purchase up-to-date Cambridge examination materials or to rent larger premises, as our current facilities cannot accommodate the increasing number of applicants. Any financial support would be used to cover these essential costs.

CAE: Review — Psycho

Write a review of a film you have seen recently.

The film I would like to review is Psycho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It is a rare example of a film that manages to surpass the book on which it is based. Hitchcock is widely known for his ability to create tension, and this film is no exception.

The story follows Marion Crane, who steals a large sum of money from her employer in order to start a new life with her lover. While travelling, she checks into a remote motel run by the mysterious Norman Bates. Unaware of the danger she is in, Marion soon finds herself at the centre of a shocking series of events.

What impressed me most was the performance of Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates. His acting is subtle yet deeply unsettling, which makes the character particularly memorable. Although the black-and-white format may seem outdated to some viewers, it actually adds to the film’s tense atmosphere.

I would strongly recommend Psycho to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers. It is a gripping and unforgettable film that remains powerful even today.

CAE: Review — Django Unchained

Write a review of a film for a film review website.

The film I would like to review is Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino. It is a powerful portrayal of slavery in pre–Civil War America and tells the story of an enslaved man who fights to regain his freedom.

The plot follows Django, who is freed by a bounty hunter, Dr Schultz, and later joins him in tracking down criminals. Django’s ultimate goal, however, is to rescue his wife from a cruel plantation owner. Along the way, the film explores themes of injustice, revenge and moral courage.

What I found most impressive were the performances of the cast, particularly Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of the ruthless plantation owner. Tarantino also deserves credit for addressing such a sensitive historical topic while maintaining his distinctive style. However, at times the main character appears almost invincible, which makes some scenes feel unrealistic.

Despite this minor flaw, Django Unchained is a compelling and thought-provoking film. I would highly recommend it to viewers who appreciate dramatic films with strong characters and a clear message.

CAE: Report — Work Experience Evaluation

You have completed three months of unpaid work experience in a large company. Write a report describing the skills you acquired, the support you received and how useful the experience will be for your future career.

The aim of this report is to describe the skills I acquired during my three-month work experience and to evaluate the support I received from my colleagues. It will also assess how useful this experience will be for my future career.

From the very beginning, I received considerable support from my mentors. In particular, Mr Jones provided valuable advice on adapting to a professional environment, managing time effectively and following company policies. As a result, I quickly became familiar with the organisation’s structure and working practices.

During my placement, I gained several practical skills. I learned how to use modern management software to organise tasks and monitor staff performance. In addition, I developed planning skills, which allowed me to contribute to evaluating business projects and making informed decisions.

Overall, the work experience proved to be extremely valuable. The knowledge and skills I gained will undoubtedly be beneficial for my future career, and I believe this experience has prepared me well for further professional development.
